Free Website Safety Check: Automated Trust Signals

Thinking about buying from a site you don’t recognise? Run an instant, automated safety check below. We read a set of public technical signals — encryption, certificate, domain age, blacklist status and more — and summarise them into a single Safety Signals score with a clear risk level.

Automated technical signals only — not our editorial Trust Score.

How the check works

The moment you enter a domain, our system fetches a set of verifiable public signals and scores them transparently. Nothing is guessed or invented. The signals include:

  • HTTPS & SSL certificate — is the connection encrypted, and is the certificate valid?
  • Domain age — how long the domain has been registered (brand-new domains carry more risk).
  • Security headers — such as HSTS.
  • Trust pages — whether the site publishes privacy, terms and contact information.
  • Blacklist & reputation — malware/phishing flags and popularity, where available.

What this does — and doesn’t — cover

This is an automated check based on technical signals. It’s a fast first look, not a judgement of a company’s honesty. It can be wrong or incomplete: a good score is not a guarantee, and a low score is not proof of a scam.

It is not the same as our editorial Trust Score, which is researched by hand across five dimensions — infrastructure & security, business legitimacy, user feedback, data protection and marketplace safeguards — with sources and evidence. For the platforms we cover in depth, always read the full review.

For the biggest marketplaces, read our full reviews

We’ve hand-reviewed and scored the most popular online marketplaces. See the full ranking in Best Online Marketplaces 2026. If a site you care about isn’t covered yet, run the automated check above — and you can request a full human review straight from the results.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as the Atop Legal Trust Score?

No. The Safety Signals score here is automated and based only on public technical signals. Our Trust Score is a hand-researched editorial rating across five dimensions. Think of this tool as a quick first screen, not the final word.

Does a high score mean a site is safe to buy from?

It’s a positive sign, but not a guarantee. Strong encryption and an established domain reduce some risks, but they can’t confirm product quality, delivery or refunds. Always use buyer protection and pay on-platform.

Why did my site come back as “not enough information”?

We only show a result when we can read enough verifiable signals. If a site can’t be reached, blocks automated requests, or barely exists yet, we won’t guess — we’ll invite you to request a human review instead.

Is the check free?

Yes — it’s completely free, and you don’t need an account.
